New environmental improvement with fauna conservation
November 2020 – Since it obtained the GEO Certificate in 2018, the Club Golf d’Aro – Mas Nou, in Platja d’Aro (Girona), continues periodically to add arguments in favor of environmental improvement and sustainable social resequires to grant its certificate, is still in force in this Catalan club, which if last year it was renewed with a fleet of ecological buggies, this year it gives continuity of its commitment by implementing selective waste collection and contributing to the conservation of birds in its privileged golf enclave.
Parallel to the selective collection, and in keeping with environmental awareness, Club Golf d’Aro has placed a series of nests and bird feeders in strategic points on the course, which will help them feed and shelter for the winter. Some are shaped like a decorative house, and others are seed dispensers that are hung from branches.
“In this way we want to enhance the diversity of the fauna of the natural area in which our course is located, Les Gavarres”, concludes Rocío Aranda.
Les Gavarres massif is declared a Protected Area of Natural Interest of Catalonia, where cork oaks, holm oaks and maritime pine forests are located inhabited by more than 100 species of birds, including the robin, the kingfisher, the sparrow or the wood pigeon , and birds of prey such as the eagle owl, the short-toed eagle and the hawk.
